This session is required for all teachers who are new to Nevada in the fall. Peer Advisors will walk new teachers through the ins and outs of each building, using our NCSD 101 documents as the foundation.
This 90-minute session will focus on connecting classroom learning with authentic community experiences. Participants will explore the benefits of community partnerships, review examples of successful school-community collaborations, and identify opportunities within their own curriculum for meaningful project-based learning. Through guided brainstorming and discussion, attendees will generate project ideas and consider potential community partners who can help bring those ideas to life. Participants will leave with practical strategies, actionable next steps, and a plan for creating engaging learning experiences that strengthen connections between students, schools, and the community.
This session is for new teachers coming into Central. We'll give an overview of what SEL looks like at Central and get you set up with your SEL curriculum account.
If you are beginning your 2nd year with NCSD, this session is for you! We will introduce the portfolio you will hand in to your evaluator by March 1, and you'll have time to get started on it during this time.
